Passengers traveling to Yemen on a transit itinerary whose international tickets include an allowance of two pieces, each weighing 23 kg, are permitted by Yemenia Airways to carry both pieces without being charged the 16 kg excess weight difference.

Please confirm the transit duration with your travel agent, as airports may vary. The transit period must not exceed 24 hours; otherwise, excess baggage charges will apply.

Update (June 2026): according to the latest Yemenia Airways instructions, passengers arriving in Yemen are permitted two pieces of checked baggage only for bookings in class Q or higher.

Yemenia Airlines allows each passenger one hand bag with maximum dimensions of 55×38×20 cm and a maximum weight of 7 kg. The bag must be kept inside the cabin only.

Foreign Travelers to Yemen
Foreign nationals traveling to Yemen are advised to review entry requirements carefully before departure, as entry conditions vary depending on nationality, arrival airport, and the traveler’s documentation.

For passengers traveling through Sana’a Airport, nationals of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Malaysia, Algeria, and Gulf Cooperation Council countries may be exempt from certain entry requirements, subject to obtaining prior security approval from the Immigration and Passports Authority in Sana’a.

Sudanese nationals and other non-exempt nationalities are required to obtain a prior entry visa issued by the Immigration and Passports Authority in Sana’a before travel.

Visas issued by Yemeni embassies or consulates abroad, as well as visas issued through Aden, Seiyun, or Socotra passport authorities, are not accepted for travel to Sana’a Airport.
Passengers holding valid residency issued in Sana’a may return through Sana’a Airport provided they hold a valid exit and re-entry visa.

For travelers arriving through Aden, Seiyun, or Socotra airports, nationals of Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, and Malaysia may be exempt from prior entry visas, provided they arrive directly from their country of nationality.

Other nationalities not covered by exemption are required to obtain a prior entry visa, except travelers holding valid residency with a valid exit and re-entry visa.

Visas issued through Seiyun are valid only for travel to Seiyun Airport, while visas issued through Socotra are valid only for arrival at Socotra Airport, with domestic transit permitted subject to applicable regulations.

• All foreign nationals departing Yemen must obtain an exit visa prior to departure.
• Certain travelers, including holders of Gulf passports, may also require security approval depending on the airport of arrival.

Travelers arriving for humanitarian work, through international organizations, for media or journalism purposes, or holders of diplomatic passports, must coordinate in advance with relevant authorities, especially the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before travel.

Passengers holding a foreign passport together with Yemeni nationality may be required to establish Yemeni nationality through supporting documentation, such as a nationality certificate for persons born outside Yemen, a Yemeni passport, Yemeni national ID, the Yemeni father’s passport, or a Yemeni family card.
If such documents are unavailable, and for holders of foreign travel documents, a prior entry visa issued by a Yemeni embassy abroad is required.

For Turkish nationals, an invitation letter is required identifying the sponsoring entity, specifying entry and departure dates, and confirming that the inviting entity assumes responsibility for the traveler during their stay in Yemen, in addition to fulfilling other requirements such as passport, visa, and external approvals where applicable.

Update (June 2026): holders of European passports or U.S. permanent residency (Green Card) who qualify for a visa on arrival must make sure they carry a valid Visa or Mastercard bank card before travel. Foreign passengers traveling to Socotra must confirm they hold a visa or entry permit for Yemen (Socotra), in addition to meeting the entry requirements of Saudi Arabia where their journey requires it.

Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, Malaysian, Algerian, and GCC nationals are partially exempt; however, they must still obtain a pre-arranged security approval from the Passport and Immigration Authority in Sanaa before boarding Yemenia Airlines.

Passengers traveling to the Arab Republic of Egypt are advised to review entry requirements carefully before departure, as conditions vary depending on age, residency status, and purpose of travel.
For Yemeni travelers departing from within Yemen, passengers and accompanying travelers between the ages of 16 and 50 (Sixteen to Fifty) are required to obtain security approval, which is valid for one-time use only. Passports must also be valid for more than 6 months (Six Months).
Passengers over the age of 50 (Fifty) or under the age of 16 (Sixteen) may enter Cairo without a prior visa or security approval.
Children under the age of six must carry a polio vaccination certificate and may be subject to mandatory vaccination upon arrival at Cairo Airport.
Yemeni citizens residing in the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Gulf Cooperation Council countries, New Zealand, Japan, or Jordan may be eligible for entry upon arrival, provided their residency is valid for more than 6 months (Six Months).

Travel to India (Mumbai)

• Passengers traveling to India are advised to review travel requirements carefully before departure.

Travel is accepted for passengers holding valid residency permits. Non-expired residency may also be accepted for study purposes, provided the traveler presents proof through a valid university identification card or qualifies under permanent residency regulations, subject to applicable requirements.

At the time of booking, passengers must provide clear copies of the required documents, including a passport, visa, and FRRO form where residency has been extended, provided such extension was issued while the traveler was physically in India and not outside the country.

For medical travel, passengers must provide an official hospital letter showing the patient’s name exactly as it appears on the medical visa.

For students traveling on student visas, a letter from the university confirming there is no objection to the student’s return is required.

Travel to Jordan (Amman)

Passengers traveling to Jordan are advised to review all entry requirements carefully before departure, as visa eligibility depends on the traveler’s category and purpose of travel.

Certain Yemeni travelers may be exempt from obtaining a prior visa. This includes male travelers over the age of fifty traveling for medical treatment, provided they present a medical report, hospital reservation, or evidence of follow-up treatment issued by a Jordanian hospital. Reports issued by other sources are not accepted for this purpose.

Male travelers between the ages of sixteen and fifty traveling for medical treatment may also qualify for entry, provided they obtain prior security approval, hold a confirmed appointment with a Jordanian medical provider, and present proof of financial means of USD 2,000 (Two Thousand U.S. Dollars). Final admission remains subject to approval by Jordanian authorities upon arrival.

Children under the age of fifteen must carry a certified polio vaccination certificate showing receipt of three doses.

Yemeni female travelers may be permitted to travel when accompanied by two first-degree relatives, including a father, mother, husband, or children, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Travelers holding valid residency in Gulf countries or Europe may also be eligible for entry if their residency is valid for more than 6 months (Six Months) and they hold either a return ticket to Yemen or an onward ticket to their country of residence.

Haya Card holders may obtain a visa upon arrival at Amman Airport.

Patients who have previously received treatment in Jordan may be eligible for re-entry if they can provide evidence of prior treatment and medical need for continued follow-up.

Travelers who do not fall under these categories, including Yemeni males aged sixteen to fifty traveling for tourism, employment, or non-medical purposes, are required to obtain a visa prior to travel.

For transit passengers traveling through Amman Airport, a confirmed onward reservation is required, and transit time must not be less than 3 hours (Three Hours) or exceed 23 hours (Twenty-Three Hours).

Passengers traveling on certain airlines, including FR, W6, UA, LH, OS, and EY, may be required to collect baggage and complete check-in again for onward travel. Travelers should verify procedures with their airline before departure.

Important — connecting at Amman (Queen Alia International Airport): the check-in counters of Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Emirates, and Saudia have been moved outside the airport terminal building. Foreign transit passengers must hold a confirmed reservation with the onward carrier to their final destination. Their passports may be retained by Khartoum Airport authorities, and hotel accommodation may be arranged until departure, under the airline’s guarantee.
For passengers departing Sudan to Yemen, direct transit time should not exceed 6 hours (Six Hours).
